ALICE COOPER Talks About Upcoming UK Tour
November 1, 2007The Sun recently conducted an interview with ALICE COOPER about a number of topics including his upcoming UK tour with MOTÖRHEAD and JOAN JETT. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:
The Sun: You're calling the new show Psychodrama. What can we expect?
Alice: "It's a BIG production! My daughter, Calico, plays all the secondary parts. She's a Chinese assassin, a ballerina, a nanny with a baby and five or six other parts. And the gallows — I haven't done the hanging in a long, long time and I forgot how difficult it was. And I've decided to make it more dangerous this time. Instead of just doing the hanging I said 'why don't we hang Alice IN the straitjacket?'"
The Sun: Didn't you say "never again" with the gallows, after a close call here?
Alice: "It was at Wembley — that was the only time it broke and I went through the floor and hit my chin. It was like getting a left hook from Roberto Duran. As soon as I felt the noose on my neck I threw my head back. I got a nice rope burn but, if I'd gone the other way, it would have been a different story."
The Sun: If we could go back to Alice in 1973 and tell him that, 34 years later, he'd still be releasing albums and playing arenas, how would he react?
Alice: "He'd say: 'Not in this condition!' Every rock star gets to a point where they've got to go left or right. They're either going to die — the Hendrix, Morrison, Moon route - or they're going to go on. I'm in better shape now than I was at 29. Life's good — and I'm a four handicap too, you can't beat that!"
